Fall Info Meeting

Interested in fencing or your student fencing at Upper Arlington High School? Join us for the UA Fencing Fall Info Meeting to learn more about the club, meet our coaches and current fencers, and find out how to get involved. No fencing experience is required!

Students and parents are both encouraged to attend. Whether you are thinking about joining for the first time or are already part of UA Fencing, the meeting is a chance to learn what to expect this season and ask questions.

Who Can Join?

UA Fencing welcomes Upper Arlington students in grades 9–12. Whether you have never held a fencing weapon before or already have experience competing, there is a place for you in the club.

When We Practice

Regular fencing practices are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30–5:30 PM. The club also meets on Fridays from 3:30–5:30 PM for equipment maintenance, repairs, and other club projects.

What Will We Cover?

At the Info Meeting, we will explain how UA Fencing works, what happens at practice, the three fencing weapons, equipment, competitions, and what members can expect throughout the season. We will also talk about the different ways students can participate in the club and answer questions from both new and returning families.

Parents will also have an opportunity to learn about the UA Fencing Boosters, volunteer opportunities, and other ways families can support the team throughout the year.

Why Join UA Fencing?

Fencing is a fast-paced sport that combines athleticism, strategy, and problem solving. UA Fencing gives students the opportunity to learn a unique sport, challenge themselves, meet new people, compete as part of a team, and represent Upper Arlington. Fencing is a great sport for any type of student, whether you are naturally athletic, enjoy problem solving, or are looking for a new challenge. Fencing is also a lifelong sport that can be enjoyed at any age and at any level of experience.

Founded in 1998, UA Fencing has a long tradition at Upper Arlington. The club is an official USA Fencing member club and has earned 17 combined Ohio high school state championships, while more than 100 UA fencers have qualified for the Junior Olympics.

Interested in PE Credit?

Participation in UA Fencing may help students meet the requirements for Upper Arlington's alternative physical education process. PE credit is not automatic and is subject to school requirements and approval. Additional information about participation and attendance expectations will be discussed at the Info Meeting.
